Blake Lively’s Maternity Style Hack May Be the Most Creative Thing You’ll See All Week

Since announcing her pregnancy in September 2022, Blake Lively has been sharing parts of her journey on Instagram, clever maternity style tips included. Taking to the social media platform this week, the actor, who is expecting her fourth child with husband Ryan Reynolds, offered up an ingenious wardrobe hack for a problem most pregnant women can relate with.

The 35-year-old shared a picture of herself wearing a long dress, which, in fact, was a black skirt paired with a polka-dotted number unbuttoned at the front to frame her baby bump. With both pieces serving necessary functions, Lively spared herself a wardrobe mishap while making a strong case for getting the most out of your existing wardrobe even with a baby bump. “When the back of your skirt won’t zip and the front of your dress won’t button, wear both,” Lively captioned the photo. “Who says two wrongs don’t make a right??” The Gossip Girl star completed the outfit with a pearl necklace and coral heels.

The actor offered another glimpse into her pregnancy last week when she shared two before and after pictures side by side, in which she is posing next to her trainer Don Saladino during a workout. “Been doing @donsaladino’s workout program for months now. Something isn’t working,” she joked. In November, Reynolds told Entertainment Tonight in an interview that their three daughters are “ready” to have a new sibling. “I’m very excited,” he said. “We’d have to be. You know, you’d have to be a moron to do this four times if you didn’t like it. It’s gonna be nuts, but we’re very excited.”

Mom-to-Be Style: Shanina Shaik’s Best Maternity Looks to Date

Since announcing her pregnancy in early May, all eyes have been on Shanina Shaik as she brings her style A-game to the maternity sphere. This month, the supermodel of Saudi heritage is fronting Vogue Arabia’s June 2022 issue, cradling her baby bump in a series of looks for the cover shoot that speaks to her chic pregnancy style.
While she sported sheer white tops for her minimalistic maternity shoot, it took the model no time to swap them for glamorous ensembles come Cannes Film Festival. For her “baby’s first red carpet” at the premiere of Elvis, Shaik championed her roots by wearing a stunning couture gown by Saudi designer Eman AlAjlan. The black off-shoulder piece came with lace gloves and a silk top while the rest of the piece hugged her bump before flowing into a floor-grazing trail. Dazzling bracelets, rings, and a choker by Messika completed her look. At the amfAR Gala, her second appearance during the festival, Shaik once again chose to wear black, but this time, in the form of a pared-back vintage piece. The model embraced a timeless aesthetic in a bias-cut gown by Alexander McQueen from Tabi Vintage, which featured long sleeves and a plunging neckline.
Off duty, Shaik is making the most out of her summer pregnancy in equally breezy and stylish outfits. Spotted on her Instagram are a couple of animal print pieces, such as her poolside look with a zebra print bikini top and sarong skirt, and a mini leopard print dress by Roberto Cavalli. The cover star was also snapped out and about in Los Angeles in a neutral ensemble which included a white bodysuit tucked into off-white trousers, topped with an oversized brown blazer, and paired with snake print flats.

Why Low-Rise Denims and Belly-Baring Tops are Becoming Rihanna’s Maternity Wardrobe Staples

Why Low-Rise Denims and Belly-Baring Tops are Becoming Rihanna’s Maternity Wardrobe Staples

To some, Rihanna‘s maternity looks may be getting more risqué by the day, but to the mother-to-be, the outfits couldn’t be more true to herself. Known for her fearless sense of style, Rihanna is not one to give her wardrobe a major overhaul while pregnant—whether that means wearing statement coats to hide her baby bump, or showing it off now that the news is out.

Going a step further from her last all-black look with a lace-up top, the Barbadian singer’s latest outfit saw her in bold colors and textures while leaving a LA restaurant. While most expecting mothers would opt for stretchy fabrics, Rihanna looked to a pair of baggy jeans, slung low on her hips to reveal her growing belly with a little help from her brown babydoll top. She topped them off with yet another daring number from her collection of outerwear: a long vintage fur coat in blue and animal print patchwork. Complete with a camo trucker hat from Awake NY, gold body jewelry, a tie-dyed Dior Saddle bag, and snakeskin Tom Ford heels strapped on top of her jeans, the outfit was everything Rihanna could make work with ease.

After revealing her pregnancy in blue baggy jeans, this is the second time Rihanna has given denim a maternity-ready spin by simply wearing her jeans below her baby bump. It’s safe to say that we will not be seeing the singer in designated maternity wear anytime soon as she goes from one quintessentially Rihanna outfit to another while inspiring other moms-to-be to wear what they feel best in.

After wearing a series of baby bump-concealing looks, Rihanna is back to serving up the jaw-dropping fashion moments she has earned a reputation for. The singer was last spotted with partner A$AP Rocky a week ago in a covetable outfit that not only announced her pregnancy to the world, but may also have signaled the onset of many daring maternity looks to come.
For her first outing since the big pregnancy reveal, Rihanna’s ensemble drew eyes to her belly much like her previous one, only this time, the star’s baby bump was adorned by criss-crossing laces instead of multicolored jewels. The star of Rihanna’s all-black outfit was a Jean Paul Gaultier ribbed sweater, with wide lace-up detailing running from the neck all the way down to its hem, baring skin along the way. Underneath, the 33-year-old could be seen wearing a custom 14k gold bra by Jacquie Aiche which added to a number of short and long necklaces Rihanna had on.

Layering the sweater with a Wardrobe.NYC x Carhartt bomber jacket, the mother-to-be completed her outfit with a pair of stirrup leggings by Attico, Jimmy Choo Saeda pumps with crystal ankle straps, and Balenciaga sunglasses. While most of her hair was covered with a form-fitting hood, she left two baby braids out to frame her face, and sported an almost-glossy red lip presumably from her own brand, Fenty Beauty.

Now that Rihanna has already been seen in two midriff-baring looks and even flaunted her belly in an Instagram post, it is safe to say that the days of wearing baggy outerwear may be well behind her, making way for more bold maternity style moments.
