Ranked: 8 of Jennifer Lopez’s Dreamiest On-Screen Wedding Dresses, From Marry Me to Monster-in-Law

Jennifer Lopez is the undisputed queen of love, no questions asked.
The multi-talented performer has always championed the happily ever after theme by never giving up on love, starring in plenty of rom-coms, and generally spreading the warm-hearted message that true love is for everyone. Saying all this, we couldn’t have been more thrilled for her when she reunited with her former sweetheart Ben Affleck before the pair went on to tie in the knot in Las Vegas in 2022. Ever the romantic, the 53-year-old wore three breathtaking Ralph Lauren dresses during the evening and looked absolutely exquisite while doing so.
But what did we genuinely expect from Jennifer? Because if we know anything about her filmography, she’s a sucker for choosing projects centered on love, relationships and… weddings. While she’s finally found happiness with Gone Girl star Ben after walking down the aisle four times previously, being a bride has very obviously been a recurring theme in her impressive filmography.
So in honor of Valentine’s Day and her latest nuptials-related movie Shotgun Wedding becoming a runaway bridal (no pun intended) hit on Prime Video, we bring you all eight of Jennifer’s wedding films, ranked in order of how enjoyable they are to watch on the sofa with your friends. Enjoy (and hopefully, you may get some inspo from her dresses if you’re preparing for your big day soon!)
The Wedding Planner (2001)

One of Jennifer’s most iconic bridal movies was The Wedding Planner, in which her character, unfortunately, after her father’s pleas, married the wrong guy in this gorgeous off-the-shoulder. While she discovers that she’s actually in love with dreamy doctor Steve (Matthew McConaughey), we can’t help but be dazzled by her gorgeous wedding look, which was completed with a stunning pearl necklace, matching earrings and pearl-encrusted veil.
Maid in Manhattan (2002)

In Maid in Manhattan, Jennifer’s character Marisa, a hotel maid, was ahead of her time as she swapped out the traditional white wedding gown for a strapless floor-length, light pink chiffon gown. In the film, she embarks on a whirlwind romance with a healthy hotel guest Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes), after he confuses her with a glamorous guest. Costume designer Albert Wolsky previously described the movie’s vibe as a “Cinderella story”, so while the dress technically wasn’t a wedding gown, it was still very fitting.

Marry Me (2022)

In Marry Me, Jennifer Lopez plays international popstar Kat Valdez who plans on getting married to her fellow popstar boyfriend in front of their fans, only to discover he’s cheated on her just seconds before she goes on stage. Heartbreak in that very moment aside, she looks terrific in her showstopping silver metallic Zuhair Murad wedding dress. According to Variety, the gown weighed 95 pounds and had “nine layers constructed of silk taffeta, horsehair and tulle” and “sparkling crystals, silver, ruffles, embroidery and lace.”
Shotgun Wedding (2023)

Jennifer’s latest wedding film sees her as one-half of a couple who have been held hostage by pirates alongside their wedding guests just seconds before they’re set to walk down the aisle. Throughout the movie, she wears a poofy, chiffon wedding dress that unfortunately suffers some severe damage as the husband-and-wife-to-be work to save themselves. We’ll let the destruction on the dress slide on this one…
Enough (2002)

In Enough, Jennifer takes on the role of Slim, an abused wife constantly on the run from her nightmare of a husband to search for a better life for herself and her young daughter. While the movie’s theme isn’t Jen’s typical rom-com, there is a wedding scene in which she looks beautiful in a strappy tulle dress while reminiscing on her happy days with her boyfriend, Mitch.
Jersey Girl (2004)

Yes, that’s Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, back in 2004, getting married in the movie Jersey Girl! However, director Kevin Smith cut the scene out of the film because of the pair’s high-profile relationship in real life, which saw them go as far as getting engaged. Speaking to US Weekly about the scene, Kevin explained: “I didn’t know (if it was right) to leave it in. People might forget they’re watching a picture, like, ‘Wait, didn’t these two not get married?”
El Cantante (2006)

Marc Anthony was another man Jennifer married in real life and on-screen in the movie El Cantante. In the film, the actress played icon Nilda ‘Puchi’ Lavoe, the wife of salsa legend Héctor Lavoe (played by Marc). We love these gorgeous era-defining wedding look Jen had for the film. The long, teased hair and dramatic veil are everything!
Monster-in-Law (2005)

No mother of the groom could stop Jennifer’s character from looking stunning on her big day, even if the role was played by the fabulous-in-real-life Jane Fonda. The white wedding gloves were the icing on the cake of her big moment, and a big smug clap back to her most prominent critic Viola as she married her son.

In her upcoming film, Marry Me, Jennifer Lopez wears a maximalist Zuhair Murad wedding gown, but for its screening, the star had something more low-key in mind. The actor walked the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of the film in a delicate dress that may not be in line with the glamorous looks usually expected from Lopez, but certainly kept with the film’s marital theme.
The dainty white number was aptly picked from Giambattista Valli‘s first-ever bridal collection named ‘Love’, which was unveiled in September 2021. One of the collection’s wedding gowns with a shorter silhouette, the mini dress was made entirely out of lace and featured a closed neckline, long sleeves, and a flared skirt.

Stylists Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn completed the star’s romantic ensemble with a pair of strappy Jimmy Choo Odette pumps with feather detailing, and a floral Dolce & Gabbana box clutch. The star’s beauty look was flawless enough to inspire that of a bride—Lopez had her hair down in loose waves, and makeup featuring a soft bronze glow and peachy nude lips.

In case you missed it, Jennifer Lopez did not attend the Marry Me screening by herself. The star was accompanied by partner Ben Affleck, with whom she recently revealed she feels “lucky, and happy, and proud” to be with. This is the second time the star has made a public appearance with Affleck dressed in a softer look. At the premiere of The Tender Bar, the singer also made headlines for wearing a waterfall-like blue couture piece by Lebanese designer Elie Saab.

Jennifer Lopez‘s enviable style is having its time in the spotlight even more than usual of late, as the star promotes her upcoming film, Marry Me. And while doing so in the winter season calls for being styled in cozy, layered outfits, it has not put a damper on Lopez’s ability to make headlines for her looks.
In New York, ahead of her appearance on The Today Show, the Hustlers actor was spotted putting a spin on the monochrome look as we know it. All three pieces in her ensemble, courtesy of Fendi, were covered in a beautiful marbled blue pattern. The look consisted of a silk dress topped with an oversized velvet trench coat that cinched at the waist with a metal Fendi O’Lock buckle, and paired with a matching velvet handbag. Lopez completed her look with light brown suede stiletto boots to contrast the pattern-heaviness, which made a return in her second look the same day.

This time, the ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer opted for the daring snakeskin print in cream and black, which covered her Roberto Cavalli outfit from head to toe. She wore a snakeskin coat on top of a matching turtleneck dress, over a pair of tights and heels in the same pattern. Even though she sported two different beauty looks for her appearances, they both featured soft glam makeup and pared-down hair to balance the boldness of her outfits.

The 52-year-old ditched the print-on-print look for her next stop in the press tour but still kept it layered. Visiting Live with Kelly & Ryan to promote the film which also stars Owen Wilson and Maluma, Lopez chose to join Kim Kardashian and Rihanna in wearing one of fashion’s new favorite colors: hot pink. The monochrome look was picked from Valentino‘s SS20 ready-to-wear collection and featured a blazer over a sheer blouse with an oversize bow around the neck, paired with knee-length trousers, and matching platform pumps. For her beauty look this time, Lopez let her hair down, tucked behind her ears and in a sleek middle part, which complimented her glossy lips and defined eyelashes.
