Miu Miu Miniskirt, JW Anderson Pigeon Clutch and Birkenstock Boston Clogs Among Hottest Items in 2022, Says Lyst

Miu Miu Miniskirt, JW Anderson Pigeon Clutch and Birkenstock Boston Clogs Among Hottest Items in 2022, Says Lyst

Lyst, the fashion shopping platform that serves 200 million users worldwide, has released its annual year in fashion report. After analyzing data gathered from January to October, the platform concluded that 2022 was Miu Miu’s year.
Searches for the label, which was founded by Miuccia Prada in 1993 as a more personal subbrand to Prada, increased by 49 percent on Lyst year-on-year, and it was mostly driven by viral products such as its ballet flats, as well as the miniskirt, which was first introduced in the brand’s spring 2022 collection.

“The brand’s ballet flats quickly became its most popular product on Lyst following their release, having been worn by the likes of Sydney Sweeney, Bella Hadid and Rosalía. A simpler, Gen Z-friendly version of its 2016 counterpart, it plays into the balletcore and “indie-sleaze” trends that have been dominating the year. With the highly anticipated return of menswear for fall 2022 and a spring 2023 collection that generated more than 23 million views on TikTok, Miu Miu was the brand to watch on the runway,” the report said.

JW Anderson’s 3D-printed pigeon clutch, introduced in the men’s fall 2022 show, was named the weirdest and most wonderful moment of the year.

Lyst said the clutch is sold out across multiple retailers, and the $890 accessory now comes with a waiting list. It has become the brand’s most viewed product on Lyst, with searches increasing by 488 percent in the first week of October when Sarah Jessica Parker was seen carrying it during the filming of the second season of “And Just Like That,” the sequel to “Sex and the City.”

The other “It” bag of this year is Prada’s Re-nylon Re-edition 2000 mini bag. Lyst said over the summer that searches for the item increased 131 percent, and its popularity shot up on TikTok thanks to its Gen Z-friendly ‘90s aesthetic. The hashtag #pradanylonbag generated more than 4.2 million views.

In terms of footwear, Lyst said Birkenstock’s Boston clogs are the hottest shoe of the year, with searches increasing 593 percent in the first six months of 2022. This shoe model also had a high fashion moment this year as it launched a collaboration with Dior Men for the fall 2022 season.

Lyst also namechecked a handful of celebrities responsible for creating some of the most viral moments in 2022.

For example, Hadid, who was named the power dresser of the year by Lyst for triggering an average 1,900 percent increase in searches for similar pieces that she wore, was the model in the creation of the viral Coperni spray-on dress. Lyst said in the days following the show, Coperni saw a staggering 3,000 percent increase in searches, making it the most searched brand from fashion month.

Kim Kardashian’s Marilyn Monroe moment at the Met Gala led to a 456 percent spike in Bob Mackie searches, while Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana in “The Crown,” where she recreated the famous “revenge dress” scene at the opening of Serpentine Gallery’s summer party in 1994, caused a 58 percent increase in searches for black off-the-shoulder dresses, while demand for black dresses with a sweetheart neckline skyrocketed 103 percent on Lyst.

The filming of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, helped Barbiecore become the trend of 2022, Lyst said. Searches for all things pink on the platform rose 416 percent after pictures of a pink-clad Robbie surfaced in June.

“But the defining pink of the year came courtesy of Valentino. Just a week after the brand’s unique shade of hot pink was presented on its fall 2023 runway, searches increased 152 percent,” the report added.

Other items and events that caused spikes in searches on Lyst include the Diesel 1DR bag, the Jacquemus x Nike collaboration, the “Weird Girl” trend on TikTok, Yvon Chouinard transferring his ownership of Patagonia to the Patagonia Purpose Trust, as well as the black Prada lace dress Sydney Sweeney wore to receive The Rising Star award at Cannes in April.

Lyst counted Luar, Amesh and Mônot as brands to watch for 2023.

Katy Lubin, vice president of brand and communications at Lyst, said the annual report provides “an opportunity to reflect on the moments that shaped how we shopped.”

“With the recent Y2K fashion renaissance and TikTok’s ever-growing influence on the fashion industry, we’ve seen a new generation of Lyst shoppers rediscovering brands that defined the early ‘00s. Brand of the year Miu Miu and logo of the year Diesel succeeded in capturing the zeitgeist for Gen Z luxury shoppers.

“Major global celebrities continue to have a huge influence when it comes to setting trends alight. Bella, Kylie [Jenner] and Dua [Lipa] were amongst the top tastemakers this year who truly inspired shoppers to add to bag.…They’ve already reached global cult status across the fashion fan spectrum, and look set to be one of the hottest gifting items for the holiday season too,” Lubin said.

Kim Kardashian, arguably Balenciaga’s most high-profile brand ambassador, has issued a statement about her relationship with the fashion house after disturbing ads featuring children were published online.
“I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened,” Kardashian wrote in a statement published to her social accounts on Sunday, November 27.

As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society — period.

“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society—period,” she wrote.
Last week, shoppers called out the Spanish fashion house for publishing photos of children holding teddy bears wearing leather harnesses and cuffs to its website. “Balenciaga using photos of little girls playing with teddy bears dressed in bondage gear on their website. Lovely,” wrote one user on Twitter. In another ad for Balenciaga’s collaboration with Adidas, documents pertaining to child pornography laws are clearly visible in the foreground. Observant users have since found even more references to the exploitation of children in campaigns published earlier this year.
Kardashian concluded her statement addressing her “future” with the fashion house. “I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with—[and] the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children,” she wrote.

As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with — & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children.
— Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian) November 28, 2022

In a statement posted to its Instagram Stories last week, Balenciaga condemned the “abuse of children in any form” and noted it planned to take legal action against the “parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our spring 23 campaign photoshoot.”

Kim Kardashian Opened Up About Kanye’s Fashion Influence and How She’s Moved on

Kim Kardashian Opened Up About Kanye’s Fashion Influence and How She’s Moved on

Photo: Getty
It’s pretty much a given that her relationship with Kanye West helped Kim Kardashian blossom into the fashion-forward figure we know her as today. Pre-Ye, Kim almost exclusively wore bandage dresses and nude pumps. But when they got together in 2012, he helped her gut her closet and bought her a new, more sophisticated wardrobe. The next year, she was his plus-one at the Met Gala. And thus, a style star was born.
A decade later, Kardashian doesn’t need her soon-to-be-ex husband to get into the Met, or to help her figure out her style. A recent episode of The Kardashians on Hulu finds all five sisters and their mom Kris Jenner headed to the 2022 Met Ball, and the Skims founder reflects on how her clothes and her personal journey have both evolved.
Photo: Getty
“At my first Met experience, Kanye was there to teach me so much about fashion, and I’m so grateful to him,” she said. “But now, it’s so fun and empowering to just try to do it on my own. And I just wanna make sure that everything is perfect.”
Perfect is the watchword! While getting ready, Kardashian treats her sisters to a tour of some other Marilyn Monroe items, plus the dress she’s about to wear, set up in her hotel suite, but warns them to touch nothing, bring no food or drink inside, and if they have to sneeze, step away. Yep, Kim Kardashian is truly running the show now, she needs no guide.

The fact that every sister got an invite this year points to just how far the family has come, celebrities in their own right as opposed to famous for the men they date. Not that the reality star is ready to walk the carpet solo. She attended the event with then-boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Kim Kardashian Goes Barbiecore-pink in Balenciaga Cutout Dress for Baby2Baby Gala

Kim Kardashian arrived on the red carpet for the Baby2Baby gala on Saturday in West Hollywood, California, wearing a head-to-toe pink ensemble.

In honor of the gala, Kardashian wore a Balenciaga spring 2023 long-sleeved pink cutout dress accented with bows and a crisscross fabric neckline. The dress also had a long flowing train.

Balenciaga’s creative director Demna said his spring 2023 collection was “very me in terms of references, looks and silhouettes.” The runway show was known as the “mud show” because models walked through a muddy hole in the ground as their stage.

She accessorized with a pink micro bag, a pair of diamond stud earrings and diamond rings. She topped off the look with a pair of pointed-toe pink heels.

For makeup, Kardashian went for an elevated but minimalist evening look. She opted for a nude matte lip and a touch of mascara. She had her hair parted down the center and pulled back into a tight bun, with a single strand placed to the side of her face.

Kardashian was accompanied at the Baby2Baby gala by her mother Kris Jenner and her sister Kylie Jenner. The trio, along with sisters Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, launched a holiday capsule collection with Judith Leiber in October.

Kardashian received the Giving Tree Award at this year’s Baby2Baby ceremony, which honors women in the public eye who have shown commitment to giving back to children in need across the globe. Filmmaker Tyler Perry presented Kardashian with the award.

Baby2Baby is a national nonprofit organization supporting children living in poverty and providing relief to families impacted by the U.S. baby formula shortage. The gala was presented by hair care company Paul Mitchell.

Just when you thought Barbiecore was fading away in favor of balletcore and cozy fall trends, Kim Kardashian goes full Balenciaga Barbie.
On November 12, Kim attended the 2022 Baby2Baby Gala in West Hollywood wearing head-to-toe Balenciaga. The reality TV star paired an asymmetrical baby pink gown featuring a dramatic train and multiple bow-tie details with a matching Balenciaga tiny purse and a pair of hot pink boots. Her platinum hair, which only adds to the Barbie aesthetic, was pulled back with a single face-framing tendril kept loose. She topped off the look with a set of french tip press-on nails by Kim Truong that could cut glass.

Baby2Baby is a nonprofit organization that provides diapers and necessities to children living in poverty in the Los Angeles area. During the ceremony, Kim was honored with the charity’s annual Giving Tree Award. “Tonight we are so proud to honor @kimkardashian with the Giving Tree Award for her dedication to Baby2Baby,” the charity wrote on Instagram. “We are so grateful for her decade-long support spotlighting our mission to provide children living in poverty with the basic essentials they need and deserve.”

However, Kim Kardashian was not the only member of her family who attended the star-studded event. Throughout the evening, Kim posed with her sister Kylie Jenner, who dressed in a custom sheer black dress by Loewe with an open back and thigh-high slit.

Logomania Has Gone Subtle—Here’s How Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Zendaya Are Nailing the Look

Logomania Has Gone Subtle—Here’s How Kim Kardashian, Rihanna and Zendaya Are Nailing the Look

Photo: Getty
When the logomania trend hit its peak back in 2016, it felt as if everyone was obsessed with covering themselves in designer brand names from head to toe and making sure people knew it. Remember Louis Vuitton’s spring 2016 show, when the signature LV logo pattern used for its bags made their way onto leather coats too? But this season, the label-loving aesthetic is heading in a surprisingly more discreet direction. Yes, logomania can actually be subtle: Celebrities have been sporting abstract or itty-bitty logos that are barely discernible to the eye.
The new iteration of the trend makes sense: While logomania has certainly died down since 2016, it hasn’t entirely left the fashion consciousness. The Fendi by Versace pre-fall 2022 show, for one, showcased pieces which had the two Italian fashion house’s logos morphed into one on coats, bags, and everything in between. But as a whole, fashion has been embracing a quieter sensibility, with labels such as The Row, Khaite, and Bottega Veneta putting forward minimal clothes that exude a stealthy elegance. As a result, designer brands are now taking a more pared-back or abstract approach to their signature logo work, too.
Zendaya. Photo: Getty
For Valentino’s spring 2023 show, for instance, the Italian label debuted its Toile Iconographe monogram, which features several “V”s in an artful formation; Zendaya wore the monogram via a coat, skirt, and tights to the brand’s show in Paris last month. Burberry’s spring collection also had the house’s horse logo applied all over onto sheer hosiery, adding a subtle flair to simple looks. Dua Lipa recently wore sheer opera gloves from the collection on her Instagram, and you could barely tell what brand they are.
But it’s not just subtle, all-over prints taking over this season. Miniature logos have also been making an appearance on tank tops, making you squint to see them. Kylie Jenner wore a branded Loewe tank to the show in Paris last month, while actor Sheila Atim wore Prada’s tiny plaque version to its spring Milan presentation. The 2022 version of logomania, then, is clearly all about rocking designer pieces in a much more if-you-know-you-know way—though that spirit of showing off is still alive and well.

From Weddings to Parties, This Rick Owens Dress Has Been a Hit Among Countless Celebrities This Season

From Weddings to Parties, This Rick Owens Dress Has Been a Hit Among Countless Celebrities This Season

Rick Owens SS22
Those looking to make a statement on the red carpet can’t go wrong with a Rick Owens dress. One, in particular, has stood out to most celebrities this year, and rightfully so. Named the Prong Dress, the edgy number’s highlight is the top part, which is best described by the American brand as a “strapless structured bodice with a boned geometric cut-out front and folded bust detail.”Although the dress is available in a mini, mid-thigh length, its full, gown version has been the top pick for style stars like Kim Kardashian, and Heidi Klum, actors Ayesha Curry and Nazanin Mandi, and singers Monica and Mae Muller.
Other versions of the Prong Dress, all of which feature the same head-turning bodice have been just as popular. Kardashian first wore a flowing skirt version from the brand’s SS22 collection to Paris Hilton’s wedding, cementing the dress’ status as an unexpected wedding guest look, which was also favored by model Paloma Elsesser. Given Kardashian’s love for all things body-hugging and dramatic, it’s no surprise then that the reality TV star and entrepreneur was also spotted in the dress in another color and fabric. For her appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden last month, the 41-year-old looked to a futuristic version of the dress, made with a metallic silver material.
With wedding and party season around the corner, expect to see this bold yet flattering creation picked by many more familiar faces.

Kim Kardashian Reveals the Rare Fashion Item Daughter North West Will Inherit from Kris Jenner’s Will

Kim Kardashian Reveals the Rare Fashion Item Daughter North West Will Inherit from Kris Jenner’s Will

Photo: Instagram.com/kimkardashian
With a closet full of rare and exclusive clothing and accessories, it’s no surprise that Kim Kardashian will pass some of them on to her four children. However, the beauty mogul and entrepreneur has recently revealed that her oldest daughter, North West will be the future owner of a special Chanel bag as part of matriarch and momager Kris Jenner‘s will.
Appearing on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Kardashian recalled her first shoot with late designer Karl Lagerfeld in 2013, and how her mother Kris Jenner was the center of attention during it. Kardashian shared the anecdote and said how her mother showed up for her debut shoot with Chanel’s then-creative director, dressed head-to-toe in the brand’s vintage collection. “In walks none other than Kris Jenner, decked in head-to-toe vintage Chanel. Like, next level — the boots, the gloves, every accessory she can find, earrings, headband, hat, glasses, fanny pack, bag, backpack,” Kardashian said. “So, he falls in love with her. Doesn’t hardly even acknowledge that I’ve been like, sitting there, it’s all about Kris Jenner.”

The Skims founder shared that she had been excitedly anticipating a previously heard rumor that Lagerfeld gifted people a bag after their first shoot with him and her happiness catapulted after she saw him walk in with a unique crystal, Lego clutch. But to her dismay, Lagerfeld walked right past Kardashian and went over to Jenner, and handed her the bag. “I went into the bathroom, started hysterically crying. And I’m like pregnant, hormonal, flew all the way to Paris for this,” the mother-of-four said speaking of the incident. She also talked about how she hoped to gift the bag to her daughter one day and display it in her room. “I had this whole plan that this was gonna be the bag and it was gonna be displayed in her room. So my mom has a provision in her will that North gets the bag.”
Although Lagerfeld presented the crystal clutch to Jenner, he eventually also gifted Kardashian with her own Chanel bag at the end of another shoot.

Winnie Harlow, Imaan Hammam, Adwoa Aboah… All the Stars Seen at Fendi’s NYFW Show Celebrating 25 Years of the Baguette

New York Fashion Week had a star-studded beginning this season as some of the fashion industry’s biggest names arrived in the Big Apple for the Fendi show. Marking 25 years of the iconic Baguette created by Silvia Venturini Fendi, Kim Jones, the fashion house’s artistic director of womenswear collaborated with Marc Jacobs on a stunning collection that was “an interpretation and celebration” that is not only a wardrobe staple but also a pop culture icon.
Seated on the front row was Sarah Jessica Parker, the actor who famously said, “It’s not a bag, it’s a Baguette” as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex And The City, thus forever linking the arm candy to New York, and later, collaborated with Fendi on a pink sequin version. Dressed in a neutral-toned ensemble with a pop of color courtesy of the Baguette, Jessica Parker took her place next to Kim Kardashian, who arrived in a sparkly mesh dress. The reality TV star and entrepreneur, too, has a special relationship with the fashion house following the much-loved collaboration between her shapewear brand Skims and Fendi. Supermodel power was in full force at the show, with Kate Moss giving rocker chic style a spin in a strappy dress with black boots, alongside Grace Jones, Christy Turlington, Amber Valetta, Winnie Harlow, and Imaan Hammam.
Also in attendance were friends of the fashion house and stars from the entertainment world, including Stranger Things actor Natalia Dyer, Maude Apatow from Euphoria, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel‘s Rachel Brosnahan, and Academy Award winner Naomi Watts.
