Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have paid a visit to Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle in the UK on their way to the fifth Invictus Games. It marks the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s first visit since departing from the UK to California in March 2020. The Queen, now 95-years-old, and recently recovered from Covid-19, is facing mobility issues and has pulled out of several upcoming events.
Markle and Harry are making their way to Europe for the fifth Invictus Games taking place in the Dutch city of The Hague from this weekend onwards. Prior to returning together for the event, Prince Harry has previously visited twice on his own for two occasions: the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, in April 2021, and once more in July 2021 to unveil a statue of his mother, Princess Diana, with brother Prince William.

Launched by the Duke of Sussex for wounded service members and veterans, the Invictus Games will take place from April 16 to 22, 2022. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, but postponed to this year due to the pandemic, the games will see Markle join the Duke on occasion too. This is not the Duchess of Sussex’s first experience at the event, having joined Prince Harry at the Toronto Games in 2017, the couple’s first official appearance together, and for the Sydney Games in 2018.

After months of inactivity on Spotify, Meghan Markle is returning to the streaming service with a new podcast. Titled Archetypes, the podcast will be hosted by Markle and will have a summer release.
Through the podcast, the Duchess of Sussex will continue championing women’s empowerment by diving into the origins of misogyny and sexism. The podcast aims to analyze and touch upon the beginnings of gender stereotypes and why they dictate women’s lives, bringing up language used towards women and how it defines them.

“This is how we talk about women: the words that raise our girls, and how the media reflects women back to us… but where do these stereotypes come from?” questions Markle in a teaser for the podcast. Archetypes will feature the mother-of-two in conversation with historians and experts on the subject to uncover the root cause of stereotypes. “This is Archetypes, the podcast where we dissect, explore, and subvert the labels that try to hold women back,” says Markle, adding, “I’ll have conversations with women who know all too well how these typecasts shape our narratives. And I’ll talk to historians to understand how we even got here in the first place.”
The news of the podcast has been long awaited after Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry signed a multi-year deal with Spotify in partnership with their production company, Archewell Studio back in 2020. The Duke and Duchess mentioned this decision came with a mission to  “build community through shared experience, narratives and values,” and Markle’s Archetypes keeps that goal in mind.

A little over a week ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared the happy news that they’re expecting a second child – and that Archie will become a big brother later this year. For the announcement on Valentine’s Day, Vogue contributing photographer Misan Harriman captured a photograph of the couple reclining under a tree, with Harry resting his hand on Meghan’s head as she lay in his lap cradling her bump. Now, the couple has made their first public appearance together since then – and they couldn’t look happier.

Speaking as part of Spotify Stream On, the pair discussed the Archewell Audio podcast that they launched last year on the platform. During the short clip, Meghan speaks about the importance of “using podcasts to drive powerful conversations”, with Prince Harry adding that they have the power to “inspire, challenge and educate”.
Meghan, who wore an Oscar de la Renta Citrus Primavera dress, and showed off cascading mermaid waves, continued: “We created Archewell Audio to make sure we can elevate voices that maybe aren’t being heard, and hear people’s stories.” With Harry adding: “And the biggest part of this is trying to create this community of where you can share, that will encourage everybody else to then share their own vulnerabilities in that safe space.”
Their appearance comes after it was confirmed they will not resume their roles as working members of the royal family. Their decision to step back from their duties was left open to review after 12 months, but the Duke and Duchess have committed to their decision to pursue independent roles while living in their adopted home of Montecito, California. A statement issued on behalf of the couple said: “As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to organisations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
