It’s safe to say that Rihanna changed the maternity dressing game forever with her bump-baring looks. Since giving birth to her son, the pop sensation is (obviously) continuing her style streak. Together with her partner, A$AP Rocky, the pair has proved that parenthood doesn’t mean you can’t be über chic.
Spotted on a date in New York City, Rihanna and A$AP served enviable style in sleek co-ordinating ensembles. RiRi wore a navy silk satin cone-bra corset top with matching figure-hugging leggings from Jean Paul Gaultier’s capsule collection with mega stylist Lotta Volkova, a black full-length leather trench, navy point-toe pumps, black square-frame shades and a black satin Dior Saddle bag.
A$AP, on the other hand, opted for a cobalt-blue shorts suit by Raf Simons, a white graphic T-shirt, black aviator wrap-around sunglasses and a pair of black and white Oxford brogues worn with white socks.
In the world of red carpet style, the Met Gala has been the place for celebrity couples to be seen together. Whatever the theme, many famous pairs have coordinated their looks for the stylish affair. 2019’s camp-themed affair, for instance, saw a particularly high number of couples who matched for the event. And with this year’s Met Gala rapidly approaching, Vogue is celebrating the spirit of the ball, looking back on the couples’ style moments that still resonate today.
If the Met Gala is a place for bold, one-of-kind fashion to be unveiled, it’s also a place where high-profile couples have made their red carpet debuts. Take Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, who walked the red carpet for the first time together in 2016: The stars wore futuristic getups inspired by the year’s technology theme, Hadid in a space-age, chic Tommy Hilfiger gown and Malik in a Versace suit with robotic-style sleeves. For other couples, the Met Gala has served as a meet-cute spot. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra met for the first time at the soirée in 2017, and now the pair are husband and wife.
Other famous duos who have been fixtures at the Met Gala as well include the likes of David and Victoria Beckham, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner—who could forget the latter couple’s matching geometric looks by Louis Vuitton in 2019, which they wore just one week after getting hitched? Last year, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky set the Internet ablaze when they showed up to the Met steps in matching voluminous looks (Rihanna in Balenciaga, Rocky in ERL).

The young London-based designer Maximilian Davis has announced that he will be embarking on a new and exciting fashion journey as the creative director of Salvatore Ferragamo.
The Manchester-born creative, who showcased his eponymous brand’s autumn/winter 2022 collection during London Fashion Week last month, said on Instagram that he was “deeply honored” to be joining the renowned Italian label. Additionally, Davis, who was tapped by Lulu Kennedy to create under the Fashion East umbrella in 2020, shared that he was “looking forward to articulating his vision”.
Even before Davis, who cut his teeth at Grace Wales Bonner, landed the high-profile new gig, his harlequin patterned garments and elegant evening dresses had become an A-list favorite. Kim Kardashian’s outing in his plunging scuba body threatened to break the internet, and is up there with the all-time great celebrity rebound outfits. Meanwhile, self-proclaimed bad gal Rihanna has had several major moments in Davis’s designs. Her ComplexCon outfit in November, which included a show-stopping carmine halter from the spring/summer 2022 line, sent social media into a frenzy.

If anyone has elevated maternity fashion as of late, it is Rihanna. The singer-turned-businesswoman has continued to one-up herself when it comes to style during her pregnancy. She and her boyfriend A$AP Rocky revealed in January they were expecting their first child together.
While it seems many celebrities tend to hide or shield their baby bumps, Rihanna seems to have fully embraced her growing belly by wearing crop tops and more revealing pieces that show off her body.
Since the news broke, the singer has stepped out in some of her most memorable and boldest looks to date, taking on red carpet events and Milan and Paris Fashion Week by storm.
In true Rihanna fashion, the pregnancy announcement came in the form of a glamorous street style photo shoot taken by celebrity photographer Diggzy on the streets of New York.
In the photos, Rihanna wore a bright pink puffer trenchcoat by Chanel and long, blue ripped jeans as she walked hand-in-hand with A$AP Rocky. She also wore a black jeweled belt by Chanel and had her hair in long curls, keeping her makeup look simple.
The pink Chanel coat is reportedly from the fashion house’s fall 1996 collection.
A few days after the reveal, the singer posted a photo of herself in an oversized sports jersey showing off her baby bump, as well as the images by Diggzy. “how the gang pulled up to black history month,” she captioned it.
In February, Rihanna uploaded another carousel of photos taken by Diggzy of herself in an all-black ensemble from head to toe, wearing a lace up bodysuit, tight black pants, a black puffer and black stiletto pumps embellished with jewelry.
During an event in Los Angeles celebrating Fenty Beauty and Fenty Skin, the singer appeared in a glittery look by The Attico, which was a sheer, shredded outfit that included a backless lime-green top and pink ombré pants.

That month, Rihanna uploaded another group of jaw-dropping photos of herself wearing a colorful fur coat over a tie-front leather top and blue denim jeans. She topped off the look with nude sandals and a camouflage trucker hat.
At Gucci’s ready-to-wear show in February, the style icon wore a latex and lace cropped top that showed off her growing baby bump, paired with black trousers with a dragon motif, a purple fur jacket and a mirror-embellished chainmail headpiece. She also accessorized with a tanzanite and aquamarine estate cross necklace from Briony Raymond.

During Paris Fashion Week, Rihanna continued her hot streak of fashion-forward styles by wearing a formfitting leather nude minidress by Off-White to the label’s fashion show, where she posed for pictures with A$AP Rocky. She paired the look with a Glenn Martens coat and Dior bag.

At the Dior show, the singer bared it all in a sheer black maternity lingerie dress, which she wore with black leather patent boots and accessorized with layered necklaces. She topped the look off with her hair half up, half down and a red lip.

During the Bulgari party in Paris, Rihanna wore a cut-out aqua bodysuit by Stella McCartney from the label’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection. She topped off the look with matching sunglasses from Gucci and an oversize utility trench coat.
While out in Paris, the businesswoman wore a look by Y/Project from the label’s fall 2022 collection, featuring a large brown sherpa teddy coat, white hoodie and matching brown leather boots.

Rihanna nearly broke the internet last night, confirming the pregnancy rumors and revealing that she is, in fact, expecting her first child. While most celebrity couples choose to reveal the happy news via social media or spokespeople, the Barbadian singer and her partner A$AP Rocky did so showcasing covetable style at the same time.
The couple was snapped by paparazzi during a walk in the snow, and even without the pregnancy reveal, Rihanna’s ensemble would have had people talking. The mother-to-be was dressed in the highly popular shade of hot pink, in the form of a long puffer coat from Chanel’s fall 1996 collection by Karl Lagerfeld. Standing beside Rocky under Manhattan’s Williamsburg bridge, Rihanna left the vintage piece unbuttoned to reveal her baby bump, which was adorned with bejeweled chains. A Chanel chain belt was looped around her light blue baggy jeans, which effortlessly coordinated her look with that of her partner, who wore a Carhatt jean jacket over a hoodie sweater and paired with baggy leather pants. The Fenty Beauty founder’s glam was also complete with matching glossy pink lips, contoured and blushed cheeks, eyeshadow, and natural curls styled in a half-up half-down style.
This particular look is certainly the most iconic one in the singer’s series of maternity outfits which she has been sporting since before her pregnancy was confirmed. At the 2021 Met Gala, the couple arrived fashionably late in similar oversized ensembles: Rihanna, in a custom Balenciaga coat, and Rocky, in a multicolor patchwork wrap by ERL. Since then, the beauty mogul’s public wardrobe has featured a range of belly-hiding outerwear. What they lacked in Rihanna’s usual daring style, they made up for in bold colors. From a tangerine Bottega Veneta coat and a bright red Balenciaga parka, to a royal blue Martine Rose windbreaker, the 33-year-old wore them all. With the pregnancy no longer hidden, come summer, Rihanna may very well ditch the oversized silhouette to show a more fearless side of her maternity wardrobe.

Jordanian-Romanian footwear designer Amina Muaddi has been named in Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and Footwear News (FN)’s 50 Most Powerful Women list. Created by WWD and Footwear News, the newly introduced list features some of the most influential women shaping the fashion industry.
Since launching her eponymous footwear label in 2018, Muaddi’s creations have been worn by stars including Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Gigi, and Bella Hadid, and Olivia Rodrigo. “Where I come from, we rarely think dreaming big is possible,” the designer said of making the list.

Alongside Muaddi, the list includes Rihanna, Francesca Bellettini, president and chief executive officer of Yves Saint Laurent, YouTube star Emma Chamberlain, Dior’s creative director Maria Garzia Chiuri, Miuccia Prada, among others. The 50 women chosen are from various backgrounds, who have undertaken different paths to uniquely shape the fashion, beauty, and footwear industries with their impact. The alphabetically arranged list features a description of their journey in the fashion world, as well as leadership advice from each of them.
The footwear designer has a number of successful collaborations under her belt, including working with Rihanna on a Fenty collection in 2021, which also received the FN Achievement Award. More recently, she created a capsule collection with Wolford featuring a range of legwear in bold colors and Swarovski embellishments. The designer also partnered with ASAP Rocky’s creative agency AWGE in 2020 to create shoes that embodied both their unique styles.

If there were a Fashion Olympics, A$AP Rocky and Amina Muaddi would have to battle it out for the gold medal in personal style. The two creatives are so full throttle in their daily outfits, sharing them on their Instagram feeds and on red carpets, that following along provides a thrill akin to that of a full fashion show. The good news is that rather than dueling, the pair are collaborating on a new collection of AWGE x Amina Muaddi shoes. The collaboration releases this week through a selection of global retailers like Net-a-Porter, Browns, Just One Eye, and On Pedder, and is sure to fly just as quickly as the shoes in Muaddi’s permanent collection.
So the million-dollar question: How will they wear them? Muaddi offers some ideas: “The gladiator is something that you could wear with something short: a skirt or a dress. The shoe with the butterfly, you can wear it with anything from jeans to a gown because it’s very versatile. It’s very elegant, but it can be dressed down or dressed up in so many ways.”

The collaboration is Muaddi’s first for her own brand, though she has also designed a range for Rihanna’s Fenty collection. “For me, it was important that the first collaboration I do is one that is special and close to my heart,” she says. “I wanted to do it with someone who shares my values and my perspective on creativity and design. Rocky doesn’t compromise himself in his work or whatever he does; he’s a perfectionist the same way I am.”

Those that have followed Rocky’s career will know this to be intrinsically true. Within the fashion world, he is one of the few musicians granted true insider status. When he’s front row at JW Anderson or Raf Simons — both brands have brought him on for collaborations — his take on the collection is as sought after critics’ reviews, and his personal wardrobe is the fodder of high-level fashion critique and endless Reddit threads. AWGE, his creative agency, has also opened up the world of fashion for a new generation of fans. Perhaps his secret is the same one many other designers have held true to: Don’t over-explain. “We don’t really talk about [AWGE]; it has a mystique. That’s the tradition of it. What I will say is, I just always was looking for outlets to express myself and expression is key,” he says. “I think AWGE was just another platform for people such as myself to come together and just create.”

Rocky and Muaddi have been friends for years, running in the same circles of musicians, artists, and designers. “It has been so many years that we’ve known each other; it was only natural someday it would lead to something like this,” Muaddi says. Though ideas have been flowing between the two since they met, the strange year that is 2020 helped push their musings into reality. “Everything happens when it’s meant to,” she says. “It was a natural time for us.”
There is also a version that laces all the way up the leg. Photo: Pierre-Ange Carlotti / Courtesy of Amina Muaddi
The four shoe styles that are the result of the collaboration are a marriage of their personal tastes. “Even if we come from such different parts of the world and we have different backgrounds, we have very similar aesthetics,” Muaddi continues. Designing women’s shoes, Rocky says, came naturally. “I know what I like and don’t like in fashion, [and] I love what she does already with the shoes,” Rocky begins. “Amina has an aesthetic and a flow going, just in general, you know, I wanted to make sure that whatever we did it bridged the gap between both of us, and it moved cohesively. It was easy collaborating with Amina. Knowing how passionate she is about her own brand, and knowing everything that she puts into it, it was a no brainer going into this collaboration, because I already had the experience and was familiar with her work. And [she was familiar with] my aesthetic too. We have a mutual admiration for style.”
“It was just about incorporating his universe, his aesthetic, his visuals,” Muaddi picks up. “A lot of the inspiration came from his personal jewelry, and things that I would see him wearing. Even before we did the collaboration, I would tell him, ‘Oh, I love this. This could be so cool on a shoe.’”
The collection is grounded by Muaddi’s signature blunted heel and uses AWGE’s and Rocky’s iconography and signatures throughout. A crystal butterfly that adorns a perspex mule is pulled from AWGE’s recurring butterfly motif, an homage to A$AP Yams who “had a giant birthmark on his face that we said resembled the butterfly,” Rocky explains. “Since his passing, we always put it in our work, hearing it secretly, in visuals, or in clothing collaborations. I think it’s dope because it kind of goes with a lot of the other stuff that I have made previously with butterflies. People could kind of style those things together.”

A chain-link piece with a dangling AWGE charm is the pair’s rendition of Rocky’s signature jewelry. Moodboards reveal dozens of images of his jewelry, his outfits, his past fashion items — ideas that were workshopped between the two designers for months to make sure that each style is as authentic as can be.

That chain link shoe “is very sexy and fierce at the same time,” Muaddi says. “And then there’s the super-high gladiator. That is a special one.” With rainbow studs that creep all the way up the thigh, it would take a very daring dresser to pull it off. Luckily the pair provides plenty of inspiration: The actress Tina Kunakey stars in their lookbook.
