There’s no denying the sartorial prowess of Arab designers, which has stars around the world reaching for their pieces time and again. Now, Deepika Padukone has become the latest celebrity to champion talent from the Middle East when she made attendance at the star-studded Cartier event in Madrid this week. To celebrate the brand’s new high jewelry with Yasmine Sabri, Rami Malek, and Annabelle Wallis, Padukone wore a dreamy white gown by celebrity-loved Bahraini label Monsoori, helmed by designer Shaima Al Monsoori.

Two distinct fabrics—one with an iridescent satin finish, and the other, a lightweight tulle—distinguished the piece which came in a peplum silhouette. Featuring a plunging neckline, the sleeveless bodice flared out at the waist in petal-like shapes, sitting on top of the skirt. Diamond jewelry, befittingly from Cartier, accessorized the Indian actor’s look, while her signature updo with tousled waves complemented the elegant number. Scroll through the post below for a closer look at her ensemble.

The outfit marks the second time Deepika Padukone has opted for an Arab designer’s creation for an international event this season. Just last month, the 36-year-old walked the red carpet at the 75th Cannes Film Festival wearing a custom dress by Saudi label Ashi Studio, another favorite in her book. While this marks her first time wearing Monsoori, it is worth noting that the brand has found a fan in many A-list stars, including Beyoncé, who wore the label in Black is King, Jhené Aiko, Bebe Rexha, and more.

American singer Katy Perry recently showed her love for Arab designers, when she appeared in two show-stopping looks by regional labels SemSem and Monsoori.
Perry, who has recently given birth to her first child, posted a series of images on Instagram this week, of her wearing a SemSem gold, draped, and pleated lamé gown with the caption, “Mother”. The strapless gown features a belted waist and two cascading side panels that elegantly float along with the dress as it moves. The singer completed her look with triangular shaped earrings and wore her blonde hair in subtle yet glamorous waves.
New York-based brand SemSem was founded in 2016 by creative director Abeer Al Otaiba, who drew inspiration for the label from her Egyptian, French, and Emirati heritage; and has become a firm favorite among models Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, as well as actor Blake Lively and singer Taylor Swift.

Perry also made an appearance at the Unicef Changemaker event in Los Angeles on December 1, where she took the stage to perform one of her latest singles, Only Love. For this occasion, the singer wore a vibrant pink gown by Bahraini label Monsoori. The pink taffeta dress, from the brand’s Spring 2021 collection, featured a plunging neckline, bow-embellished shoulders, and a voluminous tiered skirt.
Perry has recently returned to work duties following the birth of her daughter with her fiancé, British actor Orlando Bloom. Since welcoming daughter Daisy Dove Bloom in August, Perry has frequently shared the realities of motherhood, specifically relating to her post-baby body and her refusal to adhere to “bounce back” to her weight prior to being pregnant.
