Originally founded in 2015 by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Emirati Women’s Day is an occasion that is very close to our heart here at Vogue Arabia. The much-respected powerhouse who juggles many hats as Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development, conceptualized the annual event in an effort to celebrate the work done by Emirati women around the world, and serves as a reminder that the women of the UAE are a force to be reckoned with.
This year, the Mother of the Nation has chosen the theme of Emirati Women’s Day to be “Inspiring Reality; Sustainable Future”, a thoughtful concept that inspires us all to look forward towards a better tomorrow.
