At the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors, actor George Clooney is being honored for his contributions to American culture alongside singers Gladys Knight, Tania León, Bono, and Amy Grant. For the special occasion, both George and Amal Clooney showed up to the White House in style. George wore a classic black tuxedo and bowtie while receiving his medal, while Amal chose an off-the-shoulder silver gown that was encrusted with crystals.

It wasn’t the only gown that Amal slipped into for the event. Just last night, the Clooneys attended a special pre-dinner in honor of the Kennedy Center Honors, and Amal chose yet another striking dress for it—this time in an attention-grabbing red. The human rights lawyer sported Valentino’s off the shoulder column gown from the spring 2022 couture collection, complete with a long sweeping train. She accessorized the statement look with a matching red box clutch. George, meanwhile, complemented her Old Hollywood frock with another sleek black suit. When it comes to style, this couple is always in perfect sync.

The 2022 Academy Museum Gala was certainly a star-studded affair. Celebrities like Jodie Turner-Smith, Kaia Gerber, Julia Roberts, Jessica Chastain, and many more walked the red carpet before the ceremony. Also in tow were Amal Clooney and George Clooney. The power couple struck a polished note in their complementary formal wear. George wore a refined black tuxedo, and Amal selected a strapless green silk-tulle gown with draping and ruffles.

Amal’s flowy dress was in fact designed by one of fashion’s buzziest brands of the moment, Del Core, for its resort 2023 collection. Founded in 2020 by designer Daniel Del Core, a Gucci alum, the label is quickly now becoming a celebrity favorite; A-listers such as Tessa Thompson, Lily James, and Jennifer Lawrence have also worn its refined, romantic designs. It was especially a fresh fashion choice for Amal, who typically gravitates towards vintage frocks, or custom creations from prominent fashion houses such as Oscar de la Renta or Richard Quinn. Her ethereal ensemble last night proved she clearly still has her finger on the pulse of the next best thing in fashion.

Amal Clooney has been very busy traversing Lake Como, Italy, with her effortlessly chic fashion sense and her husband (his name is George Clooney). While Amal is known for her classic style, she’s taken things a bit further in 2022 with edgier looks that still honor her true style.
For a night out over the weekend, the 44-year-old human rights lawyer wore the perfect summer outfit: A strapless minidress from Ermanno Scervino’s spring-/summer 2022 collection. The eyelet dress is fitted at the waist and features a ruffled hem with scalloped edges that are giving chic doily. Clooney always knows how to style a look to perfection, and this was no exception. She wore nude block heels, drop earrings, and a nude woven clutch. She wore her dark hair down and parted to the side.

Amal and George have been on vacation in Lake Como throughout July. Two weeks ago, per Vogue, she wore another Ermanno Scervino minidress that was covered in green sequins with lace detail at the top and bottom.
In March, Amal Clooney opened up to Time about her marriage to George (they wed in 2014) and being a mom to their five-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, whom they welcomed in 2017. “Marriage has been wonderful. I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter,” she said. “It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I feel so lucky to have found a great love in my life, and to be a mother—this is how I get my balance.”

Amal Clooney told Vogue in 2018 that being with her husband George “felt like the most natural thing in the world… Before that experience, I always hoped there could be love that was overwhelming and didn’t require any weighing or decision-making,” she said.
The couple met in the summer of 2013 after Amal visited George’s residence in Lake Como with a mutual friend. The Hollywood actor’s agent had reportedly told the actor that they had “met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry”, as George revealed to David Letterman years later.
In April 2014, he proposed to Amal with a seven-carat emerald-cut diamond ring. The pair hosted a star-studded wedding celebration in Venice on September 27 the same year, followed by a party in the UK, held by Amal’s parents, in October.
For their wedding at the Aman Grand Canal Hotel, Amal wore a breathtaking lace gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. “George and I wanted a wedding that was romantic, and elegant and I can’t imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress,” she told Vogue of her exquisite bridal look.
They made their first appearance as Mr and Mrs Clooney at the Golden Globes in January 2015, for which Amal wore a floor-sweeping black dress and white opera gloves by Dior. On the night, George gushed about his new wife as he accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband,” he said. In June 2017, the couple welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander.
They’ve attended countless movie premieres, film festivals and charity galas, but the Clooneys were the best-dressed guests at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding. Amal looked radiant in a mustard-yellow look by Stella McCartney and George was by her side in a grey suit.

Amal Clooney Has Found the Perfect Feathered Party Dress

Amal Clooney’s elegant workwear is world renowned, but red-carpet dressing – although rare – is another of her skills. Take the showstopper feathered gown she wore to the premiere of The Tender Bar at the BFI London Film Festival this weekend, for example.
For her moment in the spotlight with her husband George, Amal dialled up the glamour in a bespoke creation by 16Arlington. The sequined snow-white strapless gown featured ruched detailing on the waistline, a fitted corset-like bodice and a feather trim. As for the accessories, Amal wore magnificent diamond drop earrings and a yellow diamond ring, both by Moussaieff, and point-toe satin pumps.
The glitzy dress possesses the same whimsical spirit that inspired the brand’s dreamy wedding collection, which launched in the summer. “We design for parties and this is the party of a lifetime,” explained co-founder Federica Cavenati at the time. (Several pieces from the modern bridal edit are still available to shop at Matchesfashion.com.)
Last week, Amal and George attended the LA premiere of The Tender Bar. Amal chose a look from 16Arlington’s archive to wear for the occasion: a shimmering asymmetrical dress with a spliced midriff cut-out.

The Clooneys aren’t the only couple to have taken the BFI London Film Festival by storm. Beyoncé and Jay-Z made a surprise appearance in the British capital last week wearing equally chic evening attire. Bey graced the red carpet for The Harder They Fall screening in a custom figure-hugging velvet gown from Valdrin Sahiti, which subsequently sent social media ablaze.
Emulate Amal’s party look this season with 16Arlington’s offering of dancefloor-ready pieces.

Amal Clooney’s red carpet appearances are few and far between. As a human rights lawyer and mother to two small children, Clooney doesn’t have time to attend every opening or party. Still, she makes the most of every night out, and yesterday at the premiere of husband George’s latest film, The Tender Bar, she brought a bit of glamour to the proceedings. Dressed in a black dress detailed with abstract silver appliqué, Clooney was in her element.
The midi-length dress was ladylike, but the cutouts at the waist and asymmetrical hemline kept things modern. Add on a pair of strappy silver sandals and chandelier earrings from the Reflection de Cartier collection, and you have a striking head-to-toe look. With George in all-black suiting by Giorgio Armani, the perennially stylish couple matched perfectly. Together at a public event for the first time since 2019’s London premiere of Catch-22, the miniseries adaptation of Joseph Heller’s seminal novel that George produced and directed, the night was a triumphant return to the red carpet.
Still, it may be a while before we see them out on the town again. Both Clooneys have busy 2021 schedules. In September, Amal was appointed special advisor on the Darfur region of Sudan at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. George, meanwhile, is set to bring a little levity to the big screen, reuniting with frequent collaborator Julia Roberts for the upcoming rom-com Ticket to Paradise.
