Lil Nas X Closed Vogue World: New York with a Stunning Performance

In the countdown to Vogue World: New York, we saw Lil Nas X hop on the subway, take a dip in the Central Park Reservoir, and play a cheeky game of telephone with Hailey Bieber, all to help spread the word ahead of tonight’s big event—and to the delight of all who tuned in, the Grammy-winning rapper was on hand, live and in person, to give a show-stopping performance.

After a night of flag-draped marathon runners, dancer, bikers popping wheelies, and guest appearances from the likes of Serena Williams, Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz, Jaquel Spivey, Marcus Samuelsson and Maya Haile, Jeremy O. Harris, Erykah Badu, and a whole raft of supermodels (Shalom Harlow, Joan Smalls, Paloma Elsesser, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Precious Lee, et cetera, et cetera), Lil Nas X shut the whole thing down with a rousing performance of “Industry Baby,” clad in a silvery crop top and silver lamé trousers. Under the street lamps (and spotlights) of West 13th Street, Nas and his backup dancers put on a proper show, ultimately strutting down the cobblestone catwalk flanked by Williams, Gigi, and Bella. Dare we call him a certified fashion industry baby?

Expo 2020 Dubai comes to an end on March 31, with a closing ceremony that promises to be remembered for years to come. Similar to the opening ceremony, the grand finale will be held at the main site of the Expo, Al Wasl Plaza.
To be displayed across more than 20 big screens all over Expo 2020 Dubai, including the Jubilee Stage and Festival Garden for all visitors to be able to join the iconic experience, the closing ceremony will feature global artists Christina Aguilera, Yo-Yo Ma, and Norah Jones. Even the young Dubai-born girl from the opening ceremony will make a re-appearance at the event. “See global music icons, enjoy dazzling fireworks, and exciting performances unfold beneath the stunning Al Wasl Dome,” says the Expo 2020 Dubai Instagram account.

Kickstarting the ceremony will be the National Anthem of the UAE performed by forty members of a UAE-based children’s choir accompanied by the all-women Firdaus Orchestra and conducted by Yasmina Sabbah. The main ceremony will then begin at 7pm with Mira Singh, who will take the audience through the past six months of Expo 2020 Dubai. In the opening ceremony, the Indian-Belarusian star played a girl who is handed a golden ring, the central motif of Expo 2020, inspiring its logo as well. Her story will be wrapped up in the closing ceremony as she looks back at the growth and initiatives of an eventful six months. “For 182 days, she has grown, learned and connected with people from around the world — what remains is the final step before she awakens to her full potential,” mentioned Expo event organizers.

Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and More: The Best Dressed Stars at SAG Awards 2022

Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and More: The Best Dressed Stars at SAG Awards 2022

A night when actors celebrate the talent of their peers, the Screen Actors Guild Awards calls for expressive fashion. Tonight at Santa Monica’s Barker Hanger, the attendees went all out. After 2021’s virtual ceremony, the atmosphere was jubilant and the style steeped in references to cinema’s golden age.
Respecting history doesn’t mean replicating it, and the stars who won the evening managed to channel the past in inventive ways. Selena Gomez’s Oscar de la Renta column gown had puffed sleeves and shoulders big enough for Joan Crawford, but its sleek silhouette rendered in matte black velvet was utterly modern. That blingy Bulgari serpenti choker flecked with 37 cts of diamonds pavé certainly didn’t hurt either.
Likewise, Lady Gaga’s refined Armani Privé was the right mix of past and present. While it would have looked right at home on Veronica Lake, the white column gown with its crystalized bustier and curve accentuating design had just enough outré flair to please Mother Monster.
Even the industry’s newest names nodded to old-school stars. Squid Game’s HoYeon Jung can carry off Nicolas Ghesquière’s boldest pieces, but the silver beaded spaghetti strap dress he created for her first trip to the SAGs was a classic ingenue. Personalized by adding a custom LV version of a Korean daenggi ribbon, it allowed Jung to make a dazzling debut.
Vintage vibes were de rigueur on the red carpet, but nothing can stop Cynthia Erivo from doing her own thing. Arriving in a custom red vinyl Vuitton gown with a crimson faux fur slung over her shoulders, the Genius: Aretha star looked like she’d beamed in from the next millennium. Few would dare attempt a look with such glossy gravitas but Erivo’s style gave the crowd a thrilling glimpse of fashion’s future.

Saudi Arabia Will Be Home to the Region’s Largest Waterpark

Saudi Arabia will introduce its very first water park at the entertainment megaproject of Qiddiya. Housing 22 rides and slides and breaking the record for the biggest in the region against Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis, The Palm Dubai, the mega-park will stretch for 252,000 square meters of land.
Qiddiya is one of the Kingdom’s upcoming projects alongside the popular theme park Six Flags as part of Vision 2030. The entertainment hub has already broken records with the Falcon’s Flight ride which is set to be the fastest in the world and Sirocco Tower, the world’s tallest drop-tower ride, and now, the waterpark will be its’ biggest addition to date.
Abdullah bin Nasser Aldawood, board member and managing director at Qiddiya Investment Company stated, “The Qiddiya water theme park will be a year-round immersive family entertainment destination, the first of its kind and offering experiences that have never before been offered in Saudi.”

The park will have nine zones that are each named after local references of wildlife and nature such as Camel Rock and Viper Canyon. It also has plans in motion to reduce the amount of water used. Some rides will lessen water usage by 75% through the use of recycling. Moreover, decreased water pressure had been taken into consideration minimizing water evaporation by 50%. For the visitors who want a smooth landing after slides and rides, the park has also installed what they call a “run out” system whereby swimmers simply glide into shallower pools, thereby cutting water waste and offering a more gentle ride.
Enhancing the refreshing experience even further, seventeen food and beverage outlets will be available to visitors to recharge and explore the water park in all of its amusement. The giga-project of Qiddiya will welcome all water park and sports enthusiasts by also opening the park to large-scale sporting competitions in their facilities designated towards such events.

Elizabeth Debicki Just Recreated Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress Moment for ‘The Crown’

Elizabeth Debicki Just Recreated Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress Moment for ‘The Crown’

The next instalment of The Crown is currently in production, and if there were any doubts that season five of Peter Morgan’s Netflix drama would tackle Prince Charles’s infidelity, the latest shots of Elizabeth Debicki in character as Diana, Princess of Wales have put them to rest. Paparazzi captured the willowy Tenet star filming the late royal’s grand entrance at a Vanity Fair fundraiser for the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens in 1994, when she wore an off-the-shoulder chiffon dress by Greek designer Christina Stambolian and silk Manolo Blahnik heels, entrancing the media. Making her PR coup even more noteworthy? The fact that it drowned out all coverage of her estranged husband’s ITV documentary, Charles: The Private Man, The Public Role, which aired the same night and included his confession of adultery during their marriage.

According to Stambolian, Diana had originally purchased the so-called revenge dress back in 1991, but had deemed it too risqué to wear up until that point. “[The princess] chose not to play the scene like Odette, innocent in white,” she later reflected. “She was clearly angry. She played it like Odile, in black. She wore bright red nail enamel, which we had never seen her do before. She was saying, ‘Let’s be wicked tonight!’” The late Vogue editor Anna Harvey, who styled Diana for years, put it more succinctly: “She wanted to look a million dollars–and she did.”

Lending further credence to the theory that Diana intentionally blotted out coverage of Charles’s documentary with Jonathan Dimbleby? The fact that the princess originally turned down Vanity Fair. “She had declined the invitation until two days before the event until news of the adultery quote began to leak in promotions for the broadcast,” Tina Brown writes in The Diana Chronicles. “That’s when one of the gala’s organizers, an old family friend of Diana’s, got a surprise phone call: “She said she wanted to come after all. I said, ‘What are you up to?’ And she said, ‘You’ll see.’” According to reports, the princess actually had a different Valentino gown lined up for the evening, but sketches got leaked to the press–triggering the last-minute, headline-grabbing switch.
