Fashion month is upon us, which means a first glimpse at next season, designer debuts, surprise runway cameos and countless celebrity sightings. In New York, we’ve already seen Lindsay Lohan do extreme colour blocking at Christian Siriano’s show (the redhead paired a burnt orange dress with make-up to match), Chloë Sevigny pop up on the Proenza Schouler catwalk (as BFF Natasha Lyonne looked on from the front row), and Alexa Chung captivating the street-style photographers all over Manhattan. The evening before the official start of London Fashion Week saw Erin O’Connor, British Vogue’s contributing editor Munroe Bergdorf and Jodie Turner-Smith seated front row at Harris Reed’s show, held in the Tate Modern, while Florence Pugh did a reading before models walked out. As the weekend got underway, mother-daughter duo Vanessa Redgrave and Joely Richardson sat front row at Roksanda, and Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan were seen together at JW Anderson.
Daniel Lee’s Burberry debut, and Moncler’s Art of the Genius presentation brought things to a suitably starry close in London, with Jodie Comer and Stormzy on the front row at Burberry, and newly-installed artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear Pharrell at Moncler.
Day one of the shows in Milan brought sightings of Gwendoline Christie, Julia Fox, Winnie Harlow and Christina Ricci.

Here are the Best Celebrity Looks of 2020

From Lady Gaga’s silk-taffeta dress designed by Christopher John Rogers for the MTV VMAs to Gigi Hadid’s street style at Paris Fashion Week — Vogue lists the best celebrity style moments of 2020

In this strangest and most challenging of years, at least we could turn to celebrities for some major red-carpet moments and fashion escapism while we binge-watched The Crown and baked banana bread. From Zendaya in custom Armani Privé as she won an Emmy for HBO’s hit show Euphoria to the nine looks Lady Gaga wore at the MTV VMAs where she received the first Tricon award, celebrity style was bigger and bolder than ever in 2020.
Meanwhile, up-and-coming designers provided plenty of show-stopping moments: Christopher John Rogers designed the simmering green, silk-taffeta ball gown for Gaga’s VMAs roster, while Nensi Dojaka beautifully crafted the sheer, mesh bodysuit spotted on Bella Hadid, which later went viral on Instagram. It was also the year that sustainability was well and truly at the forefront of fashion — see Cate Blanchett at the Venice Film Festival, who proudly wore recycled outfits.
Here, Vogue compiles the best celebrity looks that ruled the style game in 2020 (and made us excited about dressing up again).
1. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga’s style was nothing short of pure artistry at the 2020 MTV VMAs. The superstar wore a multicolored ensemble by Iris van Herpen with sky-high boots by Pleasers, and a futuristic face mask as she accepted her Best Collaboration award for Rain on Me with Ariana Grande.
2. Storm Reid

As we wait to see her performance in 2021’s The Suicide Squad reboot, actor Storm Reid is making waves on the fashion circuit. For Paris Fashion Week FW20 in February, she wore a moto-inspired leather look for the Monot show.
3. Zoë Kravitz

Leather and vinyl were two huge trends in 2020. Actor Zoë Kravitz’s dark and sultry take, as seen on the set of the latest Batman movie, is equal parts sophisticated and rebellious.
4. Rihanna

Cate Blanchett looked spectacular at the 77th Venice Film Festival closing ceremony in September, wearing an Armani Privé peacock dress. Blanchett put forward a message of sustainability by shopping out of her own closet and recycling looks she’d previously worn on the red carpet.
7. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

New York congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s style matches the strength of her message. Her multifaceted approach to fashion and politics (as seen on the cover of Vanity Fair’s December issue) has inspired many young people to fight for what they believe in.
8. Nicola Peltz

Actor Nicola Peltz’s off-duty style consists of some of our favorite 2020 trends: chunky heeled boots, leather coats, and tiny sunglasses.
9. Lila Grace Moss

Daughter of supermodel Kate, Lila Grace Moss made her runway debut at Miu Miu SS21 on the last day of Paris Fashion Week in October. The rising star has since provided us with plenty of 1990s style inspiration: Dr. Martens, leather jackets and slinky slip dresses.

17. Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa’s music career reached stratospheric heights in 2020 and her style game was up to par, too. Here, she takes us back to the 1990s with baggy trousers, a cutout crop top, and chunky Prada trainers.
18. Zendaya
