Amal Clooney is known for her exquisite evening wardrobe, which ranges from floor-length Atelier Versace gowns to sequined minidresses by Stella McCartney. But her day-to-day wardrobe is equally as polished—and definitely worth a closer look.
Over the weekend, the 45-year-old human rights attorney was spotted out and about in New York in a white A-line minidress, which she teamed with a black coat featuring a white paint splatter design. Finishing off the look, she added a pair of square-frame sunglasses, a black leather tote bag and patent leather pumps.
Being a vintage obsessive, there’s often a retro quality to Amal’s off-duty wardrobe, which makes it particularly distinctive. Her latest look also proves that her signature minidresses work just as well for her in the day, as in the night. Just add a pair of black tights and you’re ready to go.

At the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors, actor George Clooney is being honored for his contributions to American culture alongside singers Gladys Knight, Tania León, Bono, and Amy Grant. For the special occasion, both George and Amal Clooney showed up to the White House in style. Amal Clooney has delivered a series of stand-out vintage moments over the years, and last night was no different. Joining husband George at the LA premiere of Ticket To Paradise, the human rights barrister opted for a red printed Alexander McQueen dress from spring/summer 2003 – adding another piece of fashion history to her vast collection.
The floaty dress, featuring a handkerchief hem (a trademark of the Noughties), is something of a departure from Clooney’s usual red carpet choices, which often include slinky slip dresses and glitzy ball gowns. Recently, the vintage obsessive opted for a beaded mint green dress from John Galliano, and has sourced archival looks from the likes of Versace, Yves Saint Laurent and Bill Blass.
Clooney’s go-to vintage dealer, Mon Vintage’s Marie Blanchet, previously attributed the vintage boom we’ve seen of late to the desire to make more meaningful purchases during the pandemic. “Vintage in this sense is a sustainable signifier,” she told Vogue. “The amazing thing now – and this is something I have been fighting for for years – is that vintage is a proper fashion proposition.”
Indeed, Clooney joins a series of high-profile stars in championing vintage on the red carpet, including the likes of Bella Hadid, Zendaya and Cardi B. Given her penchant for a party dress, we can’t wait to see what archival looks she brings out next.

Amal Clooney went all-out with a glamorous red carpet ensemble in New York on Thursday after serving up plenty of workwear and party dress inspiration over the past few months. The Lebanese barrister attended the Albie Awards—a new event hosted by her and husband George Clooney’s organization, the Clooney Foundation for Justice—wearing a golden Versace gown.

The sleeveless and form-flattering number channeled 1920s flapper girl-style with its head-to-toe crystal beaded fringes that caught the light in all the right ways. To elevate the retro mood of her ensemble, Amal Clooney swapped her signature hairstyle for a voluminous ‘do with a side part and big, textured waves, while silver eyeshadow and a bold red lip completed her look. The glam was courtesy of Charlotte Tilbury, who took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video in which Amal Clooney makes a rare social media appearance. For accessories, the mother-of-two matched the metallic look with a gilded chain strap clutch, dainty diamond earrings, and silver Aquazzura heels.

The evening saw Amal and George Clooney—who looked sharp in a black tuxedo and bow tie—honor individuals “global justice defenders [journalists, human rights leaders] who are at great risk for what they do.” The awards are named after  South African former judge Justice Albie Sachs, a lawyer, activist, and writer, known for “defending people charged under racist statutes and repressive security laws.” Stars in attendance that night included Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Dua Lipa, Drew Barrymore, Oscar Isaac, Dua Lipa, John Oliver, and Ethan Hawke.

Amal Clooney‘s most recent look will have you canceling future appointments with your seamstress.
On September 24, the human rights lawyer attended the 2022 History Talks event in Washington, D.C. with her husband George Clooney wearing a sheer red lace jumpsuit. Fitted in the torso, the vibrant ensemble featured wide-length pants which pooled around her pointed silver heels and onto the red carpet instead of being hemmed to hit just above the floor.
She topped off the look with a bold red lip, simple earrings, and her hair styled in long, loose waves. Of course, Amal looked immaculate while proving that you don’t need to wait for alterations to wear those statement pants you ordered online.

For his part, George complemented his wife in a sharp grey suit with a slight sheen over a navy button-up shirt, which he left undone at the collar. He paired the suit with classic black dress shoes.

Prior to this event in Washington D.C., the Clooneys were tearing it up in New York City, where the activist was participating in panel discussions at the UN General Assembly. On September 22, Amal Clooney wore a tiered black mini-dress with a pair of black heeled sandals. Once again, the look featured Amal’s favored high neckline but was given a playful edge with the short length and sparkling details.

The next day, the pair were photographed on their way to catch an Amtrak train. While George was dressed in the same simple polo shirt and jeans, Amal kept things elegant in a cream sweater dress with a faux turtle neck and her favorite pair of leather thigh-high boots.

The couple has been married since 2014 and share five-year-old twins Alexander and Ella. “Marriage has been wonderful. I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter,” Amal Clooney said in an interview back in March. “It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. For a night out over the weekend, the 44-year-old human rights lawyer wore the perfect summer outfit: A strapless minidress from Ermanno Scervino’s spring-/summer 2022 collection. The eyelet dress is fitted at the waist and features a ruffled hem with scalloped edges that are giving chic doily. Clooney always knows how to style a look to perfection, and this was no exception. She wore nude block heels, drop earrings, and a nude woven clutch. She wore her dark hair down and parted to the side.

Amal and George have been on vacation in Lake Como throughout July. Two weeks ago, per Vogue, she wore another Ermanno Scervino minidress that was covered in green sequins with lace detail at the top and bottom.
In March, Amal Clooney opened up to Time about her marriage to George (they wed in 2014) and being a mom to their five-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, whom they welcomed in 2017. “Marriage has been wonderful. Amal Clooney told Vogue in 2018 that being with her husband George “felt like the most natural thing in the world… Before that experience, I always hoped there could be love that was overwhelming and didn’t require any weighing or decision-making,” she said.
The couple met in the summer of 2013 after Amal visited George’s residence in Lake Como with a mutual friend. The Hollywood actor’s agent had reportedly told the actor that they had “met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry”, as George revealed to David Letterman years later.
In April 2014, he proposed to Amal with a seven-carat emerald-cut diamond ring. The pair hosted a star-studded wedding celebration in Venice on September 27 the same year, followed by a party in the UK, held by Amal’s parents, in October.
For their wedding at the Aman Grand Canal Hotel, Amal wore a breathtaking lace gown designed by Oscar de la Renta. “George and I wanted a wedding that was romantic, and elegant and I can’t imagine anyone more able than Oscar to capture this mood in a dress,” she told Vogue of her exquisite bridal look.
They made their first appearance as Mr and Mrs Clooney at the Golden Globes in January 2015, for which Amal wore a floor-sweeping black dress and white opera gloves by Dior. On the night, George gushed about his new wife as he accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award for lifetime achievement. “Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband,” he said. In June 2017, the couple welcomed twins, Ella and Alexander.
They’ve attended countless movie premieres, film festivals and charity galas, but the Clooneys were the best-dressed guests at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding. Amal looked radiant in a mustard-yellow look by Stella McCartney and George was by her side in a grey suit.
