The First Lady of Oman, Al Sayyida Ahad Bint Abdullah Bint Hamad Al Busaidi, once again looked to her favorite local designer to dress her for a public appearance. In her latest portraits, the First Lady was seen wearing a brightly-colored ensemble by Omani designer Amal Al Raisi, who helms her eponymous label. With all her designs imbued with her love for the country and its traditions, Al Raisi was the natural choice for the First Lady on the occasion of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s meeting with His Majesty King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of the Belgians.

The portraits taken at Al Alam Palace were shared by the designer, who describes the dress as “a piece of high-end tailoring.” The ensemble consisted of a pink traditional dress made with silk, featuring embroidered sequins along the wrists and neckline. It was paired with a purple tulle scarf draped over the head. “This outfit was designed to combine the traditional dress from the Musandam Governorate, the Baluchi traditional dress from the Governorate of Muscat, and the traditional Suri dress from the Governorate of Al Sharqiya,” shared Al Raisi of the dress, which was created in collaboration with the Dar Al Aseel Fashion House.

The designer was also previously commissioned by the First Lady to create a custom dress for her birthday. “Sayyida Ahd has been a loyal client of mine for many years now and has only ever treated me with kindness and respect,” Al Raisi had said at the time. “It was an honor to be given the opportunity to closely collaborate with the Sayyida on this special occasion. It was a very humbling and rewarding experience, she has a real eye for design and beauty, making it a very smooth process.”
